First Lady Alma Adamkiene earned the sympathy and love of the entire people; for many she remained an unrivaled example of wisdom and elegance.

Lithuania will never forget Mrs. Alma's contribution to changing attitudes towards children's rights in Lithuania, her special care for the children of Lithuanian regions through personal visits to schools, hospitals and orphanages.

Adamkienė will forever remain close to ex-president Valdas Adamkus, a companion, the first lady of Lithuania, who with her attitude spread the highest internal culture and devoted a lot of energy to charitable activities.
For more than fifteen years, the Alma Adamkiene Charity and Support Foundation has provided support to 45 provincial schools, children's hospitals, orphanages and implemented various projects.

Since the beginning of its activities, the “Christmas Caravan” project was organized, school libraries were replenished with additional books every year (totaling 1.6 million litas), children’s hospitals in Vilnius, Kaunas and Siauliai were equipped with equipment (for a total amount of 1.13 million litas), the sports infrastructure of schools was reconstructed and updated (for a total amount of 1 million litas).

Over the years, the foundation has been implementing projects that develop the abilities of gifted rural schoolchildren and give them specific knowledge: “Business School”, “Leader’s School”, “Get to Know Our Country”, “Let’s Sing Together” and others.

After the death of Alma Adamkienė, all archival materials of the foundation were transferred to the A. Adamkus library, and a museum of the A. Adamkines Foundation was opened in the Butrimony Gymnasium (Alytus district).

Alma’s foundation, CEO was Sigute Kachinskiene, provided assistance to Lithuanian rural schools, children's hospitals and orphanages.

Schools became brighter, warmer, students had better learning tools, and libraries had more new, valuable books.

The Foundation itself initiated and participated in projects, communicated with other schools abroad, and had its own self-government.

The National Foundation “Positive Lithuania” became the successor to the programs of the Alma Adamkienė’s Foundation, and also develops its social programs and is engaged in creating a positive image of the country.
